Belgian authorities are holding a man who pushed a woman onto the metro tracks at Brussels' Rogier station. The incident occurred at 19:45 local time on Monday evening. The woman was saved thanks to the timely stopping of the metro train.
The woman was pushed onto the tracks as the train was approaching the station. When the incident was noticed, those at the scene helped her get off the tracks in time.
As shown in the video below, the train driver saw the fallen woman and immediately pulled the emergency brake. This movement was enough to save the woman.

The video recorded by the station's security cameras shows a man moving up and down and then pushing the woman onto the tracks. Police forces arrived at the scene and both the woman and the train driver were taken to hospital for first aid. They immediately went home. It should be noted that the metro trains between Elisabeth and Arts-Loi stations were stopped for half an hour.

He was immediately brought before a magistrate and taken into custody for attempted manslaughter. It should be noted that the investigating magistrate has appointed a psychiatrist who has been asked to examine the suspect.
