The know-how acquired is a guide for conventional constructions

On the occasion of the recent earthquake of magnitude 6.5 and the seismic performance of Icon in Limassol, UDS architects would like to thank and give credit to its Technical and Scientific Consultants - partners.

Specifically, the team that worked mainly on strength and safety issues in Icon are Civil Engineers Hyperstatic Engineering, Electro/Mechanical Engineers Elemec, Façade Engineers Cavazos & Co. Ltd and Fire Safety Consultants IntFire (Cyprus) Ltd.

Pavlos Antoniadis and Andreas Eleftheriou, Architects and founding members of UDS architects, in a joint statement said. Designing tall buildings we have always had to face many challenges, mainly of a technical nature. Designing in an earthquake-prone area means that the structural part of the design is an integral part of the integrated architectural design and takes place alongside the early stages of the architectural design. The design team of Cypriot and foreign scientists and engineers has ensured the application of the most modern and innovative technologies and solutions to the two buildings, thus meeting the most demanding European and international standards of increased strength and safety, solutions which have been organically integrated into the architectural design. The know-how acquired will be exploited in the near future for the benefit of buildings of conventional size, cost and height."

For the last 20 years UDS architects has been active in the design of residential, commercial and complex projects in Cyprus, having gained valuable experience and know-how through its collaboration with international firms and architectural practices.
