The trailer for season 5 of "The Crown", which follows the lives of Britain's royal family, has been released.
The popular series takes viewers back to the 90s, with Dominic West playing Charles and Elizabeth Debicki taking on the role of Princess Diana.
In this season the focus will be on the end of Charles and Diana's marriage, John Mayor's time as Prime Minister and more generally on 1992, which Queen Elizabeth II described as an "annus horribilis" (disastrous year) due to the massive scandals that came to light.
Netflix[/B] unveiled the first teaser for the show's fifth season at its global "Tudum" event and announced that the new season of the award-winning series will premiere on November 9, 2022. The trailer for The Crown begins with the voice of a journalist reading: "Buckingham Palace issues the following statement: 'With regret, the Prince and Princess of Wales are separating'.
In season five, Imelda Staunton will play Queen Elizabeth II, while Jonathan Pryce will play her husband Prince Philip.
It is recalled that the series will finally end in season six. According to reports, creator Peter Morgan intends to bring the story of the royal family to the early 2000s, as he believes there is "juice" and interesting cases worth telling: "As we began discussing season five, it soon became clear that in order to meet the rich and complex storyline, we needed to go back to our original plan and do six seasons.
Season 6 will not bring us too close to the present day - it will just allow us to cover the same period in greater detail."
