Police found stolen property in apartment of 44-year-old man allegedly related to the escapees
Large stolen property found in apartment in Paphos owned by a 44-year-old man who is allegedly linked to one of the two suspects who escaped from the Paphos police station detention centre early Saturday morning, according to the Press Spokesman and Head of the Paphos CID Michael Nicolaou.
Mr. Nicolaou said that yesterday an apartment of a 44-year-old resident of Paphos who is wanted for burglary and theft was searched and due to the fact that he was not located the search was carried out in the presence of the community leader of the Technical Area in Paphos.
Among the property found inside the apartment, Nicolaou said, were computers, mobile phones, power tools, hand tools, electrical equipment, jewellery, coins of various countries, banknotes and a DOKO-type shotgun with a cut barrel and stock. From further examinations, he added, it was established that all the recovered items came from a burglary that took place in Steni village during December 2020.

An air gun, the possession of which is prohibited, and a number of hunting cartridges were also found.
New arrest warrants were issued against the person in question, said the Head of Paphos CID, regarding the other offences against him.
Meanwhile, according to Mr. Nicolaou checks are being carried out at various residences and establishments as part of the investigations to identify the two persons who escaped from the detention facilities of the Paphos Central Police Station.
According to him, investigations to locate the two persons who escaped are continuing in coordination with the Crisis Bureau set up at the Paphos Police Directorate, which works around the clock and collects and utilizes information received from various informants and the public.
