Illegal guided tours are a "scourge" for the industry and tourism The Association of Tourist Guides
The illegal guided tours plague the guiding industry, posing multiple risks for the future of the industry and quality tourism, the Cyprus Guides' Association said in a press release on February 21, which has been designated World Guide Day, noting that the practice of the profession of guide in Cyprus is allowed only to graduates of the School of Guides of the Ministry of Tourism and after the issuance of the relevant professional license.
The last two years have been particularly difficult for tour guides in Cyprus and around the world, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, says the Association, expressing the position that the support of this professional group is necessary and essential, especially for the tourism sector of Cyprus.
It is added that the guide is the ambassador of our country, since he conveys to the visitor an objective interpretation of the history, culture and natural environment of our country and it is up to the guide to create experiences for the visitor so that he not only returns to his country satisfied, but also to lead him back to our country.
