Ukraine[/B] is asked to give its response to the surrender of Mariupol by Monday morning, according to the Russian Defence Ministry and as reported by Ria. It called on "nationalists inside the city" to surrender their weapons, noting that it would offer them safe passage on Monday.
"Mariupol authorities now have a chance to make a choice and cross over to the side of the people, otherwise the military tribunal that awaits them will simply be very little compared to what they deserve for their terrible crimes, which the Russian side is documenting very carefully," the head of the National Centre told a briefing on Sunday of the Russian Federation's Defence Command, Colonel Mikhail Mizintsev.
"We make a special appeal to the "bandits", who now call themselves representatives of the official local authorities, of this unique city of Mariupol . We know that in the current situation, little depends on you, since you are under the full control of the nationalist battalions, but we really hope that you, including the mayor of the city, have at least something elementary, humane, at least a sense of compassion for the citizens who have put their trust in you," said Mizintsev .
The Defense Ministry called on Kiev to cancel instructions to militants to become "martyrs."
"It is you who now have the right to make a historic choice - either you are with your people, or you are with the bandits, otherwise the military tribunal that awaits you is just a small one that you have already claimed because of the miserable behaviour towards your own citizens and the terrible crimes and provocations you have already organised," Mizintsev said.
According to Mizintsev, these are explosions of a kindergarten, two schools, a maternity hospital, a drama theater building, "as well as many other things."[BR]"We are sure that it is the residents of Mariupol themselves who will not be able to get out of this blockade," Mizintsev said.
"The rescued Mariupol residents, and that's almost 60 thousand people, having been in complete safety in Russia , are now speaking openly about the mass atrocities and crimes you have committed. We are recording all this very carefully right now," the general added.
