Russia will not invade Ukraine, its ambassador to the UN assures
Russia[/QUOTE]
Russia[/B] rules out the possibility of an invasion of Ukraine, according to what the Russian ambassador to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, has said.
Western countries in their attempts to convince everyone that Russia is allegedly preparing to invade Ukraine in the near future and that a few weeks if not days remain, present no evidence to confirm their claims, Russia's permanent representative to the UN said today during a UN Security Council meeting.
According to Nebenzia, the United States, with its statements, as if calling for war, is creating the impression that it wants to make its speculations a reality.
"Provocative statements"
"Talk of imminent war is in itself provocative. You look as if you are calling for it, wanting it and waiting, when it will happen, as if you want to make your speculations a reality," Nebenzia said.
Nebenzia said Russia does not contemplate the possibility of an invasion, saying: "that I can rule out." However, he did not rule out the possibility of provocations from the Ukrainian side and that the Ukrainian crisis is a purely internal crisis with which Russia "has absolutely nothing to do."
What Russia is planning
According to Nmepenzia, Russia plans on February 17 to convene a meeting of the UN Security Council on the occasion of the 7th anniversary of the Minsk agreements, at which, he said, "we will be able to talk about the situation with the settlement of the Ukrainian" issue.
Vassily Nebenzia left the UN Security Council meeting before Ukrainian spokesman Sergei Kislitsa took the floor because, he said, he had a scheduled meeting with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
"Please do not take this as a diatribe. I have to leave this meeting because of a scheduled meeting with the Secretary General regarding our presidency," Nebenzia said.
