The war in Ukraine is in full swing after the Russian invasion on Thursday morning. So far, there are reports of dozens of deaths while war fronts are spotted in various parts of the country as the Russian operation is multi-faceted.

In recent hours, the offensive has intensified on the outskirts of Kiev, Ukraine's capital, with thousands of Ukrainian citizens fleeing their homes.

Russia has seized an airport near Kiev

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia has seized an airport near Kiev.

This is most likely Antonov (also known as Hostomel) airport, located very close to the Ukrainian capital, which Russian forces had been pounding since midday on Thursday.

However, plans remain unknown regarding Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and whether he was going to be arrested by occupying Kiev.

As reported by journalist Christopher Miller, a Buzzfeed News correspondent on Twitter, a large number of Russian Mi-8s were involved in the operation targeting the vital airport.
