After multiple denials by President Vladimir Putin
Russia's Defense Ministry admitted on Wednesday that some conscripts were involved in the conflict with Ukraine, after multiple denials by President Vladimir Putin, who had said only professional soldiers and officers had been sent.
The ministry said that some of them, serving in supply units, were detained by the Ukrainian military. "Unfortunately, we discovered several facts of presence of conscripts in units taking part in the special military operation in Ukraine. Almost all these soldiers have been withdrawn to Russia," it said, promising to prevent such situations in the future.
