Premier rejects rapid test for vaccinated people at cabinet meeting - Platform for making self-tests available opens - There will be a recommendation rather than an obligation to conduct them

The scenario of rapid testing for vaccinated people to enter indoors for Christmas and New Year's Day has been reversed, as Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke during his cabinet meeting about two self tests which will be given free of charge to all citizens.

According to reports, Kyriakos Mitsotakis said during the cabinet meeting that there will be no rapid tests for vaccinated people in order to have fun on Christmas and New Year's Eve. He added that the platform will be reopened to provide two self tests free of charge for all citizens, vaccinated and non-vaccinated, during the holidays.

Recall that earlier, government spokesman, Yannis Economou, had foreshadowed this development, saying in a morning appearance on a TV show that "the possibility of reopening the platform to provide free self-tests to citizens in order to examine the epidemiological situation in the country is being considered."

He had even said that the prime minister would make a relevant report to the cabinet.
