The absolute twist came in the case of the death of a 45-year-old man in Eleftheres of the municipality of Paggaio, as it was revealed that he had been murdered by his close friend who supposedly found him dead with a gunshot wound inside his house!
The 46-year-old, who is now being held at the Kavala Police Directorate, had himself called the police late on Saturday night claiming that he had visited the 45-year-old electrician and found him dead. Police officers who arrived at the victim's house found the body in the yard of the house and the "friend" claimed that he tried to take the victim to the hospital hoping that he was still alive.
However, during the preliminary questioning that followed, he confessed that he shot him because they argued over a trivial matter and claimed that he had consumed alcohol! He then even pointed out to the police where he had hidden the murder weapon.
The body of the 45-year-old was taken to the hospital for an autopsy that will show whether he had fought with his killer, against whom a case is being filed for manslaughter with intent and violation of weapons legislation, with which he will be brought to the prosecutor of the Kavala Prosecutor's Office.
