Restoration of the chapel of St. Therapontos in Larnaca requested by the Church and institutions

Restoration and promotion of the burial chapel of St. Therapontos are requested in a joint letter by the President of the Larnaca Tourism Development and Promotion Company and the Bishop of Kition. The letter is addressed to the Director of the Department of Antiquities.

The burial chapel and the martyrdom site of the Saint and Bishop of Kition date back to around the 5th century and are located in the area of Drosia.

This monument should be given due importance and promotion, both for its great religious value and in the context of enriching the ecclesiastical monuments and, by extension, the religious tourism of Larnaca, the letter states.

The signatories recommend substantial maintenance of the existing monument as well as landscaping of the area around the monument, adding information and road signs to make the area visitable.
