"Today we have reduced the number of beds for covid patients to 45 and planning has begun so that the rest of the beds of the hospital for the rest of the cases will be open again and this is something that makes us very happy," Amalia Hatzigianni, the scientific director of Famagusta Hospital, told the Cyprus Times. As she explained, 45 beds is a number that will always be there at Famagusta General Hospital for the treatment of covid cases. "While the rest of the hospital will be able to return to normal again, serving the rest of the cases, with the citizens of the province avoiding, now, the inconvenience" as Ms Hatzigianni said.
"Breaths" at last for the staff
The reduction of covid cases in the hospital, which has been operating as a reference hospital since the beginning of the pandemic, has also allowed the employees who have been carrying a heavy burden all this time to take the necessary breaths.
"We are now slowly starting there and where we can to give leave to the staff and this is something that also makes us very happy as it also proves that we are reprogramming and returning to normality," she noted.
Only 30 patients... The youngest 25 years old
In relation to the number of hospitalizations today, according to the scientific director of the hospital, a total of 30 patients are hospitalized with covid, of which 4 are in ICU.
The youngest patient in terms of age is 25 years old and remarkably, the percentage of hospitalizations has now decreased to almost 1/3.
