The increase in cases recorded in recent days and the general epidemiological picture of the country, has kept the relaxations to citizens for a while longer in the drawer in order to avoid the worst.

With the Omicron 2 sub variant, which is also highly contagious, now in Cyprus, the Ministry of Health and scientists preferred to monitor the situation for a few more days and then proceed with relaxations.

At yesterday's meeting between the Health Minister and the members of the Scientific Advisory Committee, "locked" the recommendations that will be presented today before the Council of Ministers by Michael Hadjipandela.

As reported in yesterday's Cyprus Times, among them are recommendations that provide for such as:

-Vaccinated persons from 12 to 17 years of age should enter premises where a certificate of vaccination is required, subject to a negative 72-hour rapid test, accompanied by vaccinated parents.

-The period of time required to receive a booster dose should be reduced from five and a half to five months.

-Personnel working in nursing homes who have a history of vaccination should present a negative 72-hour rapid test result. For staff without a history of vaccination, the rapid test must have a duration of 24 hours

The final say, as always, rests with the Council of Ministers, which meets at 10.30 a.m.
