Hadjipandela's meeting with scientists completed What was discussed and which proposals will be approved tomorrow at the Council of Ministers

The scheduled meeting of Health Minister Michael Hadjipandela with the members of the Scientific Advisory Committee was completed a short while ago.

The epidemiological situation of the country was once again put on the agenda and the experts provided their recommendations for new relaxations, as it was noted that there is a significant improvement in the picture.

Towards reducing quarantine and abolishing safepass

According to Cyprus Times the issue of reducing quarantine from 10 days to 7 was put on the table which is gaining ground to go to the Council of Ministers tomorrow as it is a proposal that most epidemiologists agree with.

At the same time as mentioned in a previous report by the Cyprus Times the division of risk areas into three categories, low, medium and high, also found the experts in agreement.

The division will be as follows:

[/P]

Supermarkets, bakeries, retail, pharmacies, etc.

Medium risk areas:

Catering centres, cafes, etc.

High risk areas:

Entertainment centres, weddings, christenings etc.

As suggested by the experts

the safepass no longer needs to be a requirement to go to places of first necessity

such as supermarkets, bakeries and pharmacies, if of course this is approved by the Cabinet tomorrow.

The issue of the 15-hour test of vaccinated and unvaccinated currently in force in entertainment centres was also put on the table, but currently experts believe that it should remain in force for a while longer for triple vaccinated people.

However, it does not seem appropriate to extend the test to stay at this stage to other services, although there have been some suggestions in the past. Various changes and simplifications of protocols are already being considered and will be made in the coming period.

These proposals, if given the green light by the Cabinet, are expected to be implemented from next Monday.
