Barrier to citizens who break the quarantine, while positive for coronavirus is being put in place by the State Department of Research and Innovation.
Specifically, in a communication between the Cyprus Times[/B] and Deputy Minister of Innovation, Kyriakos Kokkinos, we were told that the CovPass platform will now be interfaced with that of the Ministry of Health, in order to temporarily cancel the Safepass of citizens who have been diagnosed positive for coronavirus, while it will be impossible to issue a new certificate until the case is released from quarantine.
Therefore, with this arrangement, citizens who are positive for the virus and seek to break quarantine by attempting to go to a testing site (e.g. cafeteria) of CovPass via the CovScan application, then the indicator on the screen will turn "red" instead of "green" and thus they will not be allowed to enter the establishment.
Note that the Safepass of those who are coronavirus positive will be reactivated when they get an official release of quarantine from the Ministry of Health.

Asked to comment on when this change will be implemented, Kokkinos explained that efforts will be made to implement it from tomorrow. "The technical checks have been completed and an announcement will be made by tomorrow morning."

Asked whether this "patent" will be adopted by other EU member states facing the same problem with endemic cases, Mr. Kokkinos replied that this technique will be implemented only in Cyprus, "because the EU member states have not reached an agreement on the withdrawal of the certificate, it is still under discussion."
