The Municipality of Larnaca makes recommendations to citizens in view of the arrival of storm "Carmel", which will hit Cyprus from today.
In a written statement issued by the Municipality, it is stated that "in view of the warnings of the Meteorological Service for the storm "Carmel", which is expected to give prolonged rains and strong windsfrom Saturday night 18 December until Monday 20 of the month, crews of the Larnaca Municipality and SAL are on alertand are ready to take immediate measures in case of an emergency".
t№8 The Municipality of Larnaca and the Larnaca Drainage Council (LARC) "urge residents to make the appropriate preparation of any premises, house, shop or warehouse they own, in order to ensure timely and effective prevention and/or treatment of problems that are likely to arise from increased rainfall".t№10 In this context, the public is invited to
check all rainwater manholeslocated in, in front of, near or even opposite their premises to ensure that they are clean and have a natural flow. The public is also urgednot to leave scattered building materials or useless objects on sidewalks or open spaces or rivers,which may be carried away by rainwater and cause more problems."t№16 According to the notice, citizens are also urgedto make sure that drainage manholes are not covered with stones, boxes, skip or machinery and to insure all their private property and vehicles
