Reactions in the occupied territories to two-state solution and Varosha What organizations and guilds report

Turkish Cypriot organizations and guilds oppose the idea of a two-state solution and the moves of the Turkish Cypriot leadership on the issue of the closed city of Famagusta.

According to the Press and Information Office, the T/C newspaper "Yeni Bakis" writes today that Nidai Mesutoglu, spokesman for the Federal Cyprus Movement, said that as long as the UN Security Council resolutions are not changed, "tdvk" will not be recognized. For this reason, the two-state solution is untenable.

"The two-state policy is a policy of blackmail," Mesutoglu said, noting that this policy is "an obstacle placed in front of the federal solution," while expressing disagreement with the steps taken by the T/C leadership in Varosha.

On the other hand, Yeni Dusen writes that Burak Mavis, secretary for education of the Turkish Cypriot Teachers' Guild (KTÖS), said that "the implementation of confidence-building measures such as the reopening of the closed Varosha by returning it to its owners in 1974 and direct flights, direct trade from Famagusta port and facilitating movement within the island" is an initiative that will provide breathing space for the TCs.
