The French president revealed about his conversation with him that the Russian president will insist to the end on the "denazification" of Ukraine and the recognition of its independence Crimea and Donbass
Russian President Vladimir Putin told his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron today that Moscow "will achieve its objectives" in Ukraine "either by negotiation, or by war", the Elysee Palace said after the two leaders spoke by telephone.
Macron found that "he is very determined to achieve his goals", namely the "denazification" of Ukraine - as Putin called it - but also the recognition of the independence of Crimea and Donbass, demands that are "unacceptable to the Ukrainians", according to Paris.
Putin "denied that his army is targeting civilians," always according to Elise. He also said it was the responsibility of the Ukrainians "to let the population leave the surrounded cities," with Macron responding that "the army that attacked was the Russian army" and that "he has no reason to believe that the Ukrainian forces are putting civilians in danger."
The French president also expressed concern about a possible attack on Odessa and said it was important to find a negotiated settlement and protect Ukrainian nuclear facilities.
Putin said today that the campaign in Ukraine continues as planned and will not end until Kiev stops fighting.
