Puti meets Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in the Kremlin

Long-term contracts currently allow Budapest to buy Russian gas five times cheaper than the market price in Europe, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at his meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in the Kremlin, praising the Hungarian government, which he said, under its prime minister, had done much to develop relations between the two countries.

The Russian President assured the Hungarian Prime Minister that the agreements signed last year between Hungary and Gazprom allow Hungary to have stable gas supplies until 2036. The Russian President praised cooperation in the energy sector, saying that the energy sector in general occupies an important place in the cooperation between the two countries, noting the cooperation concerning the Paks nuclear power plant.

Among other things, he pointed out the cooperation between the two countries in the field of machine building, as well as the agreement between the two countries on the production of railway wagons for Egypt.

Putin, referring to cooperation issues related to pandemic response, said that Russia has delivered 2 million doses of the Sputnik-V vaccine to Hungary[/B] and that at the moment the issue of transferring technology for the production of the vaccine to Hungary is being discussed.

For his part, the Hungarian Prime Minister said that Hungary would like to increase gas imports from Russia under a bilateral long-term agreement.

It was very important to sign the bilateral agreements by 2036. During today's meeting I would like to achieve the goal of increasing (gas) supplies, Orbán said.
