It was ten minutes before four thirty on Sunday afternoon when members of the OPE spotted a vehicle driving suspiciously in Agios Athanasios in Limassol. After moving around various parts of the city, he crashed into a sidewalk and came to a stop on Alexandros Papadiamantis Street.
During the pursuit the 36-year-old passenger of the vehicle was seen to throw something out the window, which was found to be cannabis weighing 21.0764 grams. Immediately the 36 year old passenger was arrested for an automatic offence. A search of the vehicle followed where a handmade cigarette with cannabis mixed with manufactured tobacco and an electronic scale with traces of cannabis were found.
When questioned, the 36-year-old admitted that the drugs found were his and that he did not know about them and made some allegations which are being investigated. After being charged in writing, he was released.
