Escorted by armed members of the Special Anti-Terrorist Squad, 4 of the 12 prisoners handcuffed for the TansuCidan Tansu Cidan murder at the Central Prison committed on October 27 are being brought before the Court today.
Among the four detainees for whom a case is being registered to be brought before the Criminal Court is the Turkish prime suspect, who is expected to face serious charges, the most serious being that of premeditated murder.

Those arrested continue to offer no clear answers about the fateful night of the murder while they are being "burned" by closed circuits and witnesses. Detainees who will not be brought before a Criminal Court are expected to testify as prosecution witnesses at the start of the trial.
At the same time, the 3 prison guards, who are already in custody on charges of manslaughter and neglect of duty, are also expected to appear in court for a direct trial before the Nicosia Permanent Criminal Court.
The prison guards continue to deny everything, and as the Nicosia CID investigator indicated in court, they failed to respond to help Cidan at his call on the evening of 27 October. The Turkish Cypriot was subsequently found dead in his cell.
It is recalled that the victim appears to have been tortured to death by fellow inmates, who attacked and beat him with sharp and heavy objects.
The Cyprus Times Times reported in a previous report that authorities believe the motive for the murder was differences between the victim and the Turkish prime suspect.
