Prison sentence of two and a half years, 28 years old[/B], following a case of burglary and arson of a house.
This is a case of burglary and arson of a country house, in a village of Paphos, inside which, on the evening of June 17, 2021, a fire broke out. The fire was extinguished by members of the Fire Service, while examinations at the scene showed that the fire had been set maliciously inside the house,
The day after the arson, members of the Police proceeded to arrest the 28-year-old, following evidence against him.
The case was investigated by the Panagia Police Station in cooperation with the Paphos Police Station.
Prison sentences, concurrent, with the highest sentence of two years imprisonment, were also imposed today by the Paphos District Court on a man aged 34 years, after hearing cases of burglary and theft, as well as a case of unlawful possession of property.
The burglary and theft cases on trial concerned the burglary of two shops in Paphos district, from which two safes with a sum of money in excess of 13 thousand euros were stolen, from the first shop, and from the second shop, the cash register box, with a small sum of money. The burglaries of the two stores were committed respectively in October and September, 2019.
Third adjudicated case concerned the illegal possession of property, a case for which the 34-year-old was arrested in February, 2019.
On February 04 specifically, at 2.15 midnight, the 34-year-old was arrested by members of the Police, when he was spotted wandering suspiciously in an area of Paphos, having in his possession, in a bag, burglary tools.
With him was a second suspect, a 43-year-old man, in whose car, in a subsequent search, members of the police found a tablet-type computer, a number of pairs of glasses, a branded watch, and an electric screwdriver.
Both the 43-year-old man and the 34-year-old man were arrested on court warrants for the offence of illegal possession of property, since they did not provide sufficient explanations for the possession of the recovered items.
The three cases were investigated by the Paphos CID.
The 34-year-old is also serving a six-year prison sentence, which was imposed on him in March, 2021, by the Nicosia Permanent Criminal Court, following a robbery case.
