The dissatisfaction and disagreement with the way the "test to stay" measure is implemented, expresses, in a statement, the Pancyprian Confederation of Federations of Associations of Parents' Associations of Primary Education Schools, asking those responsible to deal even now with the practical daily problems faced by school units.

It also refers to a serious lack of dialogue since the Pancyprian Confederation of Primary School Parents has not been invited to participate in meetings concerning the adoption of measures and children are only informed about the implementation of measures after the decisions have already been taken.

"We are two years after the pandemic and it seems that they have not yet come up with a comprehensive plan of action, endangering both the health and education of our children. Unfortunately, children in these two years have been irreparably affected in terms of their psychological world and there is concern about the extent of educational deficiencies as we enter the third school year in the midst of a pandemic," he adds.

For two years now, the Pancyprian Confederation says, "we have been listening and following the instructions of the Council of Ministers and being informed by the relevant ministries on how to implement the protocols in school units."

"Decisions are being taken at a very fast pace in order to deal with the pandemic. But we are seeing a serious lack of communication. What we keep hearing is that the main consideration for all decisions taken is the health of our children and their safe stay in schools."

He also states that the concerns and arguments of the Organised Parents were not taken into account.

"The suggestion to implement the protocol as announced on Sunday as it would have been done on a pilot basis is not accepted. We express our dissatisfaction and disagreement with the way this measure has been implemented which has once again prevented children from returning to normal school hours and has resulted in inconvenience to parents and teachers. We ask those responsible to deal even now with the practical daily problems faced by school units," he added.

The Pancyprian Confederation of Primary Parents says it will raise a number of issues at a meeting of its Board of Directors to schedule information meetings with Parents, press conferences, web-based information seminars and meetings with all parties involved.
