"If the calls are heeded by the whole and the vaccination programme is followed, it will be a way of dealing with both the present mutation of the virus or any other possible mutation."
We wouldn't want to in any way, create conditions for a new lockdown, the President of the Republic told reporters after the service for the Feast of the Epiphany at St Lazarus Church in Larnaca.
Asked whether the measures decided yesterday by the Council of Ministers to deal with the pandemic could have been more stringent, President Anastasiades said that "we would not want in any way after what citizens in general have suffered and suffered, and businesses, to create conditions for a new lockdown."
As he noted, "we have tried to be within the framework of scientific opinions and I believe that if the calls are heeded by the whole, not only in Cyprus, but around the world, and we follow a vaccination programme which our state generously provides to our citizens, it will be a way of dealing with the present evolution of the virus or any other eventuality".
