A strong earthquake of magnitude 7.2 occurred in the island complex of Kepulawan Barat Daya, Indonesia, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said.
The earthquake originated from a focal depth of 170 kilometres and was felt as far away as Dili, the capital of East Timor, 250 kilometres away.
No casualties or damage have been reported.
