A strong earthquake measuring 6.7 magnitude occurred in a sea area southwest of Java Island, in Indonesia, the BMGK weather agency said.

According to the weather agency, the earthquake that occurred in the Indian Ocean off Baden province does not have the potential to cause a tsunami.

Reports say the tremor was particularly felt in the capital Jakarta, where people ran out of buildings.
