According to Italian public television Rai, during his conversation with the Russian ambassador at the Vatican today, Pope Francis offered to personally mediate between Russia and Ukraine, with the aim of ending the bombing and the withdrawal of Moscow's military forces.
Francis, at the same time, always according to Rai, added that he is willing to mediate and the Catholic Church as a religious institution as a whole.
