As part of the inspections related to the Law on the Control of Funeral Offices and Registration of Funeral Officers and Embalmers, members of the CID Headquarters conducted yesterday, Friday 18/2/2022, nationwide inspections based on court warrants, in funeral offices.
Specifically, inspections were carried out in three funeral parlours in the Nicosia district and in one funeral parlour each in the districts of Larnaca, Famagusta and Paphos.
During the inspections of the above funeral parlours, it was found that none of them has the licence required by the competent authority[/B], namely the Ministry of Interior, to operate as funeral parlours. Furthermore, the managers of the above offices are not licensed by the Ministry of Interior to practice the profession of funeral director.
Various documents, authorizations, receipts, invoices and others were received from all of the above offices for further examination.
Also, during an inspection of a funeral office in Limassol, it was found that both the office and the officials in it, held all the required licenses from the competent authority.
The investigation of the above cases was undertaken by the local Police Stations.
