Due to the three days of Good Monday, a mass exodus of vehicles and increased traffic on motorways, long-distance roads and roads in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas is expected.

The Police are already taking additional measures for public safety on a nationwide basis, with an increased presence on the road network, with the aim of preventing road collisions, mitigating traffic and facilitating public movement.

These measures include motorised patrols, traffic control and regulation where necessary, and traffic controls. Particular emphasis will be placed on serious traffic offences such as speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, not wearing a seat belt and helmet and using a mobile phone while driving.

"We urge drivers to be particularly careful when driving, to comply with the Road Traffic Code and traffic signs and to follow the instructions of police officers on duty," the Cyprus Police said in a statement.
