Since 1960, the year of the establishment of the Republic of Cyprus, 58 members of the Security Corps have lost their lives in the front line of duty, the Equality Branch of the Police Corps said in a message on the occasion of March 7, the Day of Remembrance and Honour of Fallen Police Officers in the line of duty. It also asks the state to shield the profession as "highly dangerous."

"Honor and glory to all those who have lost their lives for law and values," a statement said.

It is also noted that the lives of the security forces are at stake every day, whether in the country's emergency or not. "The State must shield our profession - our profession - as highly dangerous, which we will demand until this is recognized, with actions and not with words," concludes the Police Corps Equality Branch.
