The Plenum of the House voted unanimously in into law the bill to reduce the excise tax on fuel with the reduction coming into force on 8 March to last until 1 June.

The reduction in excise duty will be 7 cents a litre on petrol and diesel, rising to 8.3 cents a litre including VAT. At the same time, the excise duty on heating oil will be reduced by 6.4 cents including VAT."

The law was passed under the urgency procedure as the bill had been approved earlier by the Council of Ministers.

As stated in the report of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance to the Plenum of the Parliament, the aim of the reduction is to alleviate the economic costs borne by consumers and businesses, in the context of promoting policies to mitigate the impact of the Ukrainian crisis, particularly on fuel prices.
