PIS denounces targeting for GESY "They reduce unpleasant individual exceptions to the rule in terms of abuses of the health system" What it says in a statement

In the counterattack, PIS denounces targeting and regrets what is said about doctors in terms of GESY.

As it notes, "they reduce unpleasant individual exceptions to the rule when it comes to abuses of the health system."

It stresses that "it does not allow anyone to use doctors to serve expediency and other personal ambitions."

The statement itself:

"The Pancyprian Medical Association regrets the fact that some people continue with unremitting fury to target doctors and to elevate unpleasant individual exceptions to the norm when it comes to abuses of the health system.

We do not allow anyone to use doctors to serve alien purposes and personal ambitions.

No one can abuse the health of citizens and the Hippocratic mission of doctors, nor can these values be the object of cheap populism and demagoguery.

The Pancyprian Medical Association does not use slogans to defend its members.

The Pancyprian Medical Association does not use slogans to defend its members. It defends in practice, and not for show, the prestige and expertise of its members, every day, at every level, without discrimination, whether they are active in the public or private sector, whether they are contracted to the health system or not.

The targeting of doctors neither solves the problems nor removes the grave responsibilities of the competent body implementing the GESY, as they have been established and documented by independent institutions, the Legal Service of the Republic and the Audit Service of the Republic. A body in whose board PIS does not participate and in which, on the contrary, organised patients participate.

The doctors' profession cannot be a persistent target of those who attempt to avoid responsibility.

The disorientation of public opinion must finally stop and we must embark on the immediate solution of the problems identified. Unfortunately, some people persistently choose the familiar path of hollow slogans, thus undermining what they themselves supposedly protect.

PIS does not turn a deaf ear to the problems. Especially when it comes to avoiding any abuses. Both before and during the implementation of the YESY, it had submitted specific proposals that would provide solutions to the effectiveness of supervisory control. Unfortunately, these have remained unused. PIS demands the implementation of reliable control mechanisms at all levels of implementation of the GESY and has already proposed the implementation of a statutory independent supervisory control authority.

We call on all those who are truly interested in solving the problems of the system to make use of the expertise of the Pancyprian Medical Association, the Scientific Societies and their members."
