The Municipal Police will be notified directly Drivers will be punished with the removal of registration data for two months
The Municipality of Athens has launched an important initiative to tackle the problem of illegal parking of vehicles on ramps for the disabled, by creating an application that will detect the vehicles and directly notify the Municipal Police.
Specifically, sensors will be placed on the ramps intended for people with limited mobility that will detect vehicles that stop at the spot and will automatically send an alert to the Municipal Police Centre and to the police officers via tablets already on the street.
As explained in the ANT1 programme "Morning Press", the Director of the Municipal Police, Mr. Vlachos, a red dot appears in the application when the specific area is occupied by a vehicle and police officers will rush to the spot, who will impose a fine on the drivers.
The fine concerns the removal of traffic data for a period of 60 days, i.e. license plates, driver's license and registration. On the other hand, when the dots are green it means that the ramps remain open open.
At the moment there are 830 points with sensors in the center of Athens, he notes.
