"The time has come to change the system in place since 1980."
Developments and new data have made the necessary reform of the pension and social security system a priority, Labour Minister Zeta Amylianidou said on Saturday, at a conference of the Glafkos Clerides Institute for the Future of Europe.
She stressed that the time has come for change in the system in place since 1980, and assessing the situation, and for change and transition to the digital transformation of social security services.
She said that gender equality at work is unquestionable and the basic principle of Community law. The Minister noted that social justice is the foundation and an effective social protection system is the catalyst for the eradication of poverty and social exclusion to create conditions of social cohesion. Aimilianidou said that the EU Treaty speaks about citizens' rights, social justice, protection, equality, solidarity, the rights of the child and combating exclusion and discrimination.
She added that through the pillar of social rights and its implementation, social rights are strengthened with a positive impact on the lives of citizens. He spoke about people-centred policies and substantive equality between women and men and equal opportunities for all.
He also welcomed the EU initiative on the procedure for the adoption of a directive on the implementation of the minimum wage something that the President of the Republic has also announced, namely the national minimum wage.
