The problems of distributors (delivery) in the catering and digital product distribution platforms, the risks to which they are exposed in relation to their safety and health, the inspections carried out by the Labour Inspection Department within the scope of its responsibilities and the need to further regulate the employment conditions of the workers in question within an effective framework to safeguard their labour rights, the Parliamentary Labour Committee discussed ex officio on Tuesday.
As stated in a Committee statement, the debate will continue at its next session, which will take place in May.
Further, the Labour Committee discussed a proposal for a law on the Protection of Paternity and a proposal for a law amending the law on social security, by Andreas Kavkalias, Christos Christofias and Giorgos Koukoumas on behalf of the parliamentary group AKEL-Left-New Powers.
The Committee took a position, behind closed doors, on the provisions of the above-mentioned legislative proposals, the purpose of which is to amend the existing legislative framework in order to extend the period of time within which the right to take paternity leave and paternity allowance can be exercised. The Committee decided to refer them to the plenary session of the House, after the consultation stage on amendments that may be tabled by MPs.
The Parliamentary Labour Committee discussed the preparatory meeting of the Committee on Social Welfare of the House of Elders for the 23rd Session of the House of Elders on the subject of "Old Age Facing the Spectre of Coronavirus". As stated in the statement, the Labour Committee decided to regularly monitor progress in advancing the requests submitted by the Social Welfare Committee of the House of Elders.
