Oziyit officially submitted his resignation from the CPD What he says about Akinci and Harmanji The resignation will be evaluated by the enlarged central committee of the party at its meeting next Tuesday

He officially submitted his resignation before the central committee of the CPD on Thursday night, its president, Cemal Oziti, after failing in last Sunday's "parliamentary elections" to enter the "parliament".

The resignation will be evaluated by the party's expanded central committee at next Tuesday's meeting where the party's course and the next congress will be determined.

According to WFP, speaking on a webcast today, Mr. Ozyit said the attitude of former TC leader Mustafa Akinci, who preferred to maintain "silence" during the election period, greatly affected the election result, but added that it would not be right to blame Mustafa Akinci for the party's failure to pass the electoral measure.

He also said that according to the party's statute, after the resignation of its chairman, it would have to go to a congress within 45 days. He explained that during yesterday's central committee meeting, the party discussed how to proceed and added that one of the possibilities is for the general secretary to temporarily take over the leadership of the party and lead it to the congress and the other possibility is for everyone to resign and elect a new central committee.

Asked about the possibility of the "mayor" of occupied Nicosia, Mehmet Harmanji, taking over the presidency of the party, Mr. Ozyit replied that this would be decided by Mr. Harmanji himself, adding that he believes that Mehmet Harmanji is one of those who would be able to scoop up the party and lift it up.
