Our debt is the non-negotiable assertion of the basic rights of our people, said G. Homer's message at the commemoration and honouring of resistance hero Christakis Kobos

Our debt is the non-negotiable assertion of the elementary rights of our people, said former Speaker of the House of Representatives Yiannakis L. He added that 48 years after the great betrayal and the terrible crime, with fresh memories and unhealed wounds, we are called to honour his wonderful sacrifice at this meeting of duty. Omirou asked, however, how to articulate the speech, without slipping into hypocritical euphemism, when the national humiliation of the occupation is still present for 48 years and when the call of responsibility lurks and defines our course?

He also pointed out that it is our duty to highlight the true nature of the Cyprus crisis, to demand the application of the principles of International and European Law and to simply declare and insist without wavering that the Cyprus problem is a matter of invasion and occupation of an independent state by Turkey.

He also continued with the clear suggestion that those who are genuinely interested in a just and viable solution should direct their interest, influence and pressure towards the occupying power.

Christakis Kombos, a member of the reserve, along with Anastasis and Charalambos Christofis and Pantelis Charalambous were murdered by 74 coup plotters in a garbage dump in Agios Tychonas.
