Organizations and personalities call for approval of justice reform
Call for passage of justice reform bills, are addressed in an open letter by organizations and individuals such as former ministers, former judges, honorary ambassadors, former ministry and central bank officials, academics, businessmen, doctors, architects, accountants, economists, lawyers and business consultants.
According to them, this reform has been discussed for years, several bills have been prepared and have been discussed extensively both in public and in the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs, where many suggestions/amendments were made by political parties, MPs, the Ministry of Justice, the Pancyprian Bar Association and other stakeholders.
"The debate is now exhausted. The passage of the bills by the plenary is not a partisan issue, not even a political one. It is national," the letter says, adding. Citizens no longer trust the system and avoid access to justice."
It is also stressed that their enactment is an obligation of the State to the citizens especially now when those in the know, the Supreme Court, warns that if the reform is not implemented soon, a complete collapse of the current system is imminent."
