The plan for possible relaxations will be on the table of the next meeting of the Minister of Health and epidemiologists What will be on the table according to what Michael Hadjipandela announced

Ready to open the chapter on relaxations, Health Minister and scientists, as announced yesterday by Michael Hadjipandela although Cyprus remains in the deep red category on the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control map, as do almost all EU countries.

Decisions on any relaxation of measures will be considered at the next meeting of the Scientific Advisory Committee on Tuesday, February 1.

Michael Hadjipandela said possible relaxations would depend on the number of cases, but also on hospitalisations, based on reports from the OCYP.

The possible relaxations that will be put on the table:

-Relaxations related to children 12-17 years old who are not vaccinated, to give them the opportunity to go to food venues by showing a rapid test or SafePass

-Potentially increasing the number of people at weddings and baptisms

-Consideration will be given to allowing dancing again

It is expected that at the Minister's next meeting with scientists the plan and timeframe for relaxations will be set, given that the restrictions will be with us for some time to come.

Further, according to the Health Minister, Tuesday's meeting will also discuss any problems arising from the application of the test to stay measure to the student population, and consultation with the Police, Fire Service and HMRC on its extension will begin immediately.
