The inauguration of the Cyprus Training Centre for Land and Maritime Security and Port Security CyCLOPS created and operating in Larnaca, as part of the Cyprus-US bilateral cooperation, will be inaugurated on Wednesday 6 April, during her visit to Cyprus, by the US Assistant Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Victoria Nuland, together with Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides.
Ms. Nuland will visit early Wednesday afternoon, accompanied by Ioannis Kasoulides, the square next to the Medieval Castle in Larnaca, where the sculpture entitled "Ankara - Cardia", donated by the city of Odessa, adorns the coastal front of the city of Zenon. There, in the presence of other dignitaries, Ms. Nuland, Mr. Kasoulides and the Ambassador of Ukraine to Cyprus, Ruslan Nimchynskyi, will make statements.
Later, Ms. Nuland and Mr. Kasoulides will go to the Cyprus Centre for Land and Sea and Port Security CyCLOPS training centre, which was created and operates in Larnaca, with the assistance and support of the USA. There the two officials will hold talks, inaugurate the Center and make statements.
As part of her visit, Ms. Nuland will meet with the President of the Republic, Nicos Anastasiades, at the Presidential Palace on Thursday morning, April 7. During the meeting, the Director of the Press Office of the President of the Republic, Andreas Joseph, said in a written statement that the President is expected to analyse his proposal for the MoU and refer to the readiness of the Greek Cypriot side to resume negotiations leading to a settlement of the Cyprus problem. After the meeting, Ms. Nuland is expected to make statements.
