Doctor pleads not guilty to 12 charges in fake vaccination certificates case Free with restrictions

The doctor, aged 53, from Larnaca, pleaded not guilty to 12 charges that were brought against him today before the Larnaca - Famagusta Permanent Criminal Court regarding a case of issuing fake vaccination certificates to his patients.

During today's proceedings the 53-year-old answered "I do not admit" to the 12 charges brought against him by the representative of the Prosecution.

Specifically, the six charges related to the one person who died at the Famagusta General Hospital which operates as a Reference Hospital for patients with coronavirus, after police investigations found that the patient confided to medical and nursing staff at the hospital that he had secured a certificate of vaccination against Covid-19 when he had not been vaccinated.

The other six charges relate to a second patient who died while being treated for coronavirus at Famagusta Hospital and appeared to have been vaccinated through that doctor, but was allegedly not vaccinated.

The Court of Cassation ordered that the 53-year-old man be released with restrictive conditions, namely to surrender all his travel documents, his name to be placed on the stop list and to sign a financial guarantee of 50 thousand euros with a reliable guarantor.

The defendant's defence counsel did not object to the restrictive conditions imposed on the 53-year-old man by the Court of Cassation.

It will be recalled that the accused faces charges of conspiracy to defraud, drawing up a false official document, circulation of a false document, registration with false representations and false entries in records or other documents of the Health Insurance Agency.
