Nissan has announced that it intends to launch an all-new compact all-electric vehicle destined for Europe.

The new car will play a key role in the transition to the electric age as part of Nissan's Ambition 2030 vision. Something that will be achieved with new cars and technologies being introduced in the near future, as seen with the new Nissan Ariya, a new EV crossover and Nissan's unique e-POWER technology coming to Europe via the Qashqai and X-Trail.

The all-new electric compact car will further enhance this future range, having been announced as part of the new Alliance 2030 roadmap, designed by Nissan and set to be built at the Renault ElectriCity centre in France on the Alliance CMF B-EV platform. This platform enables companies to maintain unique styling for their respective products.

"This brand new model, to be designed on our new joint platform, maximises the use of our Alliance assets. This is a great example of the Alliance's 'smart differentiation' approach and I am confident it will deliver further excitement to our customers in Europe," said Nissan Chief Operating Officer Ashwani Gupta.

The future compact EV was announced as part of Alliance 2030, a joint roadmap announced by Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors that focuses on electric models and connected mobility activities. The new electric model to be built joins the Nissan range of vehicles manufactured by Renault in France. A range that includes Nissan's LCV range, notably the new Nissan Townstar, which succeeds the pioneering e-NV200 as the brand's small electric van.
