[/QUOTE]New weekly decrease in Covid cases in the UK 10% compared to last Thursday
Thursday's 24-hour count of confirmed coronavirus cases in the UK stands at 96,871.
This is a new weekly decrease of 10% from the previous Thursday.
The new daily number of Covid carriers confirmed to have died within 28 days of a positive diagnosis remained at a high level, at 338.
On a rolling seven-day basis, the counts of both cases and deaths are marginally down, by 2.2% and 1.1% respectively.
There has also been a continued decline in hospitalised covoviral carriers and intubated patients, now numbering 16,510 and 561 respectively.
Separate new figures, moreover, show that of the 13,023 Covid carriers hospitalised in England last Tuesday, 52% (6,767) were admitted not for coronavirus but for another major illness and just happened to have contracted the virus.
