The Ministry of Health announces that today, 30 December 2021:
- 1 person died from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 636.
- 178 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 85 are in serious condition. A proportion of 85.4% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
- 16 post-COVID patients who ceased to be infectious (declassified cases) continue to be hospitalized intubated in serious condition due to COVID in an ICU.
- A total of 114,743 tests have been performed to detect the disease by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test).
- 3,851 (positivity rate: 3,36%) new cases of COVID-19 have been detected by the PCR and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 161,779.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The 1 person who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 was:
A 95-year-old woman who died on 30 December at Larnaca General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 636, of which.
- 404 males (63.5%), and
- 232 women (36,5 %).
The average age of those dying from the disease is 76 years.
B. Inpatients:
In total, 178 patients with COVID-19 are hospitalized in the hospitals of the OCYPY, of which 85 are in serious condition or on NSAIDs.
Of the 85 patients in serious condition, 28 are intubated, 11 are in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) off ventilator and 46 in an Intensive Care Unit.

C. Positive cases COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 114,743 diagnoses performed, 14,415 were performed by the molecular method (PCR) and 100,328 by the antigen rapid test method, 3851 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting in the following:[/p
- 281 cases from 1,536 samples obtained through the contact tracing procedure of already confirmed cases.
- 85 cases out of 5,749 samples taken during passenger screening at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 806 cases out of 6,637 samples taken through private initiative.
- 33 cases out of 465 samples taken by the Microbiological Laboratories of General Hospitals.
- 1818 cases from 68,440 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 827 cases out of 31,888 samples tested by the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
- 1 case from 28 specimens obtained under the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and screening of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
