New sanctions on Russia are coming What Biden told Zelensky Biden welcomed the decision of Visa and Mastercard to suspend service in Russia

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, spoke with Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, on Saturday (5/3) about ongoing efforts to impose sanctions on Russia and accelerate U.S. military, humanitarian and economic assistance.

The White House statement says:

"President Biden highlighted the ongoing actions being taken by the United States, Allies and partners and the effort to increase sanctions on Russia for its aggression in Ukraine."

Specifically, Biden welcomed the decision by Visa and Mastercard to suspend service to Russia. President Biden noted that his administration is increasing security, humanitarian and economic assistance to Ukraine and is working closely with Congress to secure additional funding."

Zelensky confirmed the call, writing via Twitter early Sunday morning:[BR]"As part of ongoing dialogue, I had another conversation with @POTUS. The agenda included security issues, economic support for Ukraine and the continuation of sanctions against Russia."
