New fuel increases are coming - When are they expected - Smuggling is booming and citizens are forming queues for fuel from the occupied territories, complains the Association of Petrol Station Owners - They do not rule out mobilizations and strikes
The petrol station owners are heading towards their destruction according to the Cyprus Times Press Spokesman of the Association of Petrol Station Owners, Christodoulos Christodoulou, complaining to the Cyprus Times.
As he stresses, now due to the increases there is a question of viability of all service stations nationwide, as they are recording daily significant reductions in their supply, which is per litre.
"The situation has got out of hand, we are at $100 a barrel and the forecasts say it will go10-15 cents a litre up by the end of next week, as we calculate it," he said.
At the same time, he stressed that the price rise was reducing petrol station owners' incomes and their own commission, creating serious problems for struggling owners struggling to keep their businesses afloat.
"On Wednesday we will have a meeting so that decisions can be taken and mobilizations even a possible strike are not ruled out," he noted.
At the same time, he stressed that in recent days there has been an increase in the number of our fellow citizens going to occupied for fuel, creating daily queues of 3-4 kilometers at the roadblocks.
"It also seems that some people are taking advantage of the situation and there is an upsurge in smuggling from illegal entrances to the Republic and especially from Pyla," he said.
Finally, he called on the government to make up for lost ground with compensation for the money lost by thousands of citizens who travel to the occupied territories and are supplied with fuel.
