Multiple explosions were heard around 18.15 CY time today in the center of the city of Donetsk, which is controlled by Moscow-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine, Reuters news agency reported. The nature of the explosions has not been clarified.

One civilian was killed in a shelling launched by separatists in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, the regional governor said today.

The victim, a man born in 1970, was killed in the village of Novoluganske, where the shelling also caused a disruption in electricity, heating and damage to a gas pipeline, Governor Pavlo Kirilenko explained on Facebook.
