A new case of a "fake doctor" has come to light, with the perpetrator sitting in the dock of justice eight years after the allegations against him.
As dikastiko.gr reports, this "fake doctor" pretended to be a cardiologist in sports clubs, endangering the health of athletes, while he had forged a fake degree and a fake card of the Medical Association and for years slipped away from the authorities.
In fact, despite the fact that he was denounced eight years ago, only today, Monday, he sat in the dock of the Athens Trial Court in order to answer for serious offences.
The indictment
The "false doctor" is accused that "with intent and with several acts constituting a continuation of the same crime, he knowingly prepared and used false documents in order to mislead another person about a fact that has legal consequences. In particular, he presented to sports clubs, in order for them to hire him to examine athletes and offer his services as a doctor - cardiologist, a copy of a degree from the Medical School of Athens, which was a forgery, as revealed by a document from the Medical School of the University of Athens, and a membership card of the Medical Association, which was also a forgery, since he never received the status of doctor, so that he could register with the Medical Association.
The indictment also stresses that "he carried out these acts in order to mislead the representatives of the sports clubs as to the authenticity of these documents and the fulfilment of the conditions in his person for the exercise of the profession of doctor, so that they would hire him as a medical cardiologist".
8 years late
Characteristically, this case was reported eight years ago by a citizen who was aware of his activities and, indeed, was originally placed on file. The pseudo-doctor, according to the accusation, continued his activities for a long time.
