Hundreds of thousands of chickens, ducks, turkeys and tens of wild birds have been killed in the Netherlands following several outbreaks of the disease in 2021
About 170.000 poultry will be killed after authorities identified a highly contagious strain of bird flu on a farm in the Netherlands, the country's agriculture ministry said today.
Farms near this farm in the province of Nord Oland will be cordoned off until tests for the H5N1 strain of the virus can be carried out and it can be determined whether it has spread, according to the ministry.
Meanwhile another outbreak of bird flu was announced by the ministry, this one on a farm in southern North Brabant province, the agriculture ministry said in a separate statement.
About 46.000 broiler chickens will be killed there, it adds in it.
